ABOUT THE TEAM
Latoya Alston
Author/Founder
Latoya Alston is a graduate of East Carolina University. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, and Master of Arts in Sociology from ECU. She went on to obtain a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling-Marriage and Family from Liberty University. She is currently an Instructor, Author, Entrepreneur, Academic Advisor, and Director of Prevention Education.
She is also survivor of domestic violence and is passionate about helping men and women find their voice. She understands the importance of providing a space that is able to facilitate the healing of the whole person-spirit, mind, and body. Her educational background and life experiences have created an undying passion for encouraging and inspiring people to become their best selves.
In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family. She is an auntie-mom of two amazing children- Mariah and Christian. She enjoys watching a good movie, playing Mario Kart, and going to the arcade. If she could be any where in the world right now, she would choose to be right where she is- surrounded by the people that she loves.
Her life is what she calls, “imperfectly perfect.”
Shakura Woodland
Program Coordinator
Shakura Woodland is the Program Coordinator for Rising from the Shadows, LLC. Shakura has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and in the future she has hopes of using that degree to start a foundation for underrepresented/underserved children. Her passion in life is to help children find their path in life. It is because of Shakura's passion and heart that she is the perfect addition to our organization!
In her free time, she likes to do arts and crafts! She is a creative mind and loves to learn (and teach) through the arts. Woodland will be organizing community events and programs for Rising from the Shadows and we are so blessed to be able to have such a talented soul representing us.
Linda Alston
Director of Fundraising
Linda Alston is the mother of Rising From The Shadows, LLC's Founder, Latoya Alston. Linda Alston is bringing years of fundraising experience to the team. In this volunteer position, Alston plans to help Rising From The Shadows, LLC raise money to not only sustain itself, but so that the business is able to continually give back to the community.
In her free time, she is all about family. She loves to cook, bake, and watch cooking videos. She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. Anyone that knows her knows that her greatest joy in life comes from serving God. She is a woman of great character and faith. She is a prayer warrior and Rising From The Shadows, LLC would not be the same with out her.

La'Creuisha Lee
Shipping & Fulfillment Director
La'Creuisha Lee is the Shipping and Fulfillment Director. She is responsible tracking products, restocking inventory, and product shipment. She is the mother of a beautiful little girl, Trinity, and a handsome baby boy, Elijah. She has spent the majority of her adult life working in childcare, which makes her perfect for this position! She has the patience, organization, structure, and dedication required to make sure that her area runs smoothly. She is a great asset to Rising From The Shadows, LLC.
In her free time, she loves to eat SHRIMP, travel to see her loved ones, lounge around the house watching a good movie, and bask in the company of her friends and children.

Support Staff
Jeremiah and Elizabeth Alston are a support staff duo that brings creative ideas to Rising from the Shadows. They dabble in everything from bookkeeping to product advertising. Jeremiah is a music and football fanatic who has learned dedication and teamwork through his journey. He brings all of his communication and creative skills to the team. He is bubbling over with ideas!
His wife, Elizabeth, is a visual and technical personality who creates an environment of structure for the team. She brings knowledge of business from her college endeavors. She also brings discipline and focus to our team!
Jeremiah and Elizabeth are the parents of a beautiful daughter, Carolina, who is also the founder's niece (bonus). They are lovers of Jesus and are on the brink of making their mark in the world. In their free time, they love to travel, spend time with family, go to concerts and fairs, and of course- watch sports. We are excited to see how this couple helps to revolutionize Rising from the Shadows, LLC.
Daniela Ramirez
RFTS Social Media Intern
Daniela is a current Social Media Intern for Rising from the Shadows, LLC. She attends East Carolina University currently and is pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology.
She hopes to become a cardiothoracic surgeon in the future because she "wants to speak life into people physically and spiritually!" We are so excited to have her sweet, bubbly spirit on our team!
NaTazhia Griffin
RFTS Intern
NaTazhia is a current intern for Rising from the Shadows, LLC. She attends East Carolina University currently and is pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She hopes to use that degree to go into the field of Dentistry.
She says, "I enjoy helping others and hope to give individuals something to smile for, even when they feel they can't." We are so excited to have this humble, authentic soul on our team!
